A Framework for Implementing E-learning in Ghanaian Institution of Higher Learning

Abstract

This research deals with the challenges of implementing e-learning in Ghana especially in the higher learning institutions. The research sought to analyze the current implementation challenges of e-learning in four universities in Ghana. It also studied how ICT is used in the field of education in Ghana, the challenges associated with learning and leading, facilitating or teaching with e-learning systems and examined whether e-learning is a viable option. Data were obtained from students and lecturers and ICT coordinators analysis. Qualitative and quantitative analysis were used to analyze data. From the analysis of data obtained it was found that, e-learning implementations come with a number of challenges. A comprehensive study of the various e-learning technologies in use and their relevance were studied. The pyramid model of e-learning implementation in order of priority has been proposed that will help in successful e-learning implementation especially in institutions of higher learning.
